Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified nurse to lead our Respiratory Specialist Nursing team at The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford (PRH). Substantial clinical experience in the care and management of respiratory patients is essential. The post holder will be required to work closely with the Respiratory multi-disciplinary team in order to provide expert nursing care for patients with complex respiratory diseases.

We are looking for a dynamic nurse with commitment & enthusiasm to take on this role and help drive the service forward.  The post holder will be based at PRH but may also be required to work at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital depending on service requirements.

Main duties of the job

To provide expert care for patients with complex respiratory needs and act as a role model and advocate for the specialist service. Providing effective leadership & management for Band 6 respiratory nurse specialists.

To provide specialist nursing care and advice for patients with generic respiratory conditions as well as education and support to both patients and their carers.

The service currently runs from Monday to Friday, 9.00am – 5.00pm.

Essential criteria

Degree or evidence of working at level 3
Teaching and assessing/ clinical supervision
Evidence of ability to critically appraise research and transcribe/implement into evidence based practice

Desirable criteria

Independent/Supplementary Nurse Prescribing Course (Non Medical)

Knowledge, Behaviours and Experience

Essential criteria

Substantial post registration experience with a broad range of clinical experience
Extensive specific experience within the speciality
Participated in service development and implementation of change
Experience of teaching and assessing in the clinical area
