Job overview

Due to reduction in hours within our existing team we are looking to recruit into this position for 18 hours per week.  This is exciting opportunity to join a well established and helpful team of Palliative care nurses to deliver specialist palliative care.  This is also an opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge within palliative care 

Set working days could be considered although it would be expected that the post holder will work weekends on a rota basis alongside the rest of the team.  

This post is to support the palliative care service in line with CQC recommendations.

Main duties of the job

You will provide specialist support and advice for patients receiving palliative and end of life care.  This will include triaging referrals to the team from clinical colleagues, reviewing patients in the inpatient setting and providing specialist palliative care advice and support for inpatients.  In addition you will liaise with clinical colleagues in the Hospice and the community setting where required to provide support for patients.  You will need to have a high level of existing clinical skill and experience in managing palliative and end of life care patients

Excellent communication skills will be essential in order to provide high quality information to the patient and you will need to be confident in breaking bad news if this is required.  This post will be expected to work across both The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford sites so you must have the ability to travel cross site.
