We are pleased to be recruiting for new members of our Maternity Ward Clerk team.

If you would like to join the Maternity Team in an administrative role then this may be the role for you. You will be an essential part of the team supporting both Midwives and Obstetricians in supporting women on their time within our busy Consultant Unit based at The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford. The role is variable every day, you could be working on any of our 3 Consultant wards within our team.

Main duties of the job

You will be part of a group of employees which comprises of doctors, midwives, support staff and clerical/ administrative staff who provide a high standard of service to women and families within their pregnancy, birth and postnatal time in maternity.

The successful applicant will need to have experience dealing with the general public; they will have good IT skills and remain calm under pressure in this challenging role.  A good telephone manner, confidence and a positive helpful manner is essential.  Duties will include answering the telephone, filing, using the SEMA system and booking appointments. It is essential that the successful candidate has good communication skills, the ability to work under pressure, with ever changing priorities and deal with sometimes very fast pace of work. You would need to be hard working, flexible, responsive and adaptable whilst remaining professional at all times.

Working for your organisation

You would need to be able to work well with our small team of ward clerks, within the Maternity Consultant Unit. Your area of work will be changeable, daily at times to cover the needs of the busy Consultant Maternity wards. You would need to be able to support colleagues at times depending on how busy the areas are and manage an ever changing workload. You will be working within the small ward clerk team but then with the wider team to care for the ladies who are pregnant, on the labour ward or the postnatal area within our Organisation.
