Job overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic and efficient person to join our busy team in Shrewsbury, providing high quality library and information services to health staff and students in order to support the highest standards of clinical care, education, training and research. You will be working with the other 5 members of the Library team and the post will involve a wide range of library duties.

It is essential that you are able to communicate effectively and have good IT and organisational skills. Previous library experience would be advantageous.

In addition, the postholder will support a positive image of Staffordshire University responding to requests and representing Staffordshire University Library and Student Support and Wellbeing 

Main duties of the job

To provide the first line of contact for Staffordshire University students, NHS staff and other library users and library visitors by working on the library enquiry desk handling enquiries, registration of new users and library induction

To share responsibility with other library staff for the efficient day-to–day running of the library service.

The Library has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to join our small but supportive team as a library assistant. To enable the post holder to thrive within the role training will be provided both on site at Shrewsbury and with our partner Staffordshire University. This is a 2 year fixed term post, suited to those who strive to deliver a professional and friendly customer service.

English and Maths A-C or equivalent

NVQ in Information & Library Services or equivalent library qualification
IT qualification
