Job overview

We are looking for an exceptional Director of Estates to join our team at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH).

Main duties of the job

The Director of Estates will have overall responsibility for a large estates and hard facilities management function, managing all internal and external relationships. As such, the post holder will be required to capture and promote sharing of best practice on a regional and national basis embedding best practice operationally at site level. The post holder will also be expected to develop innovative and commercial opportunities to improve the estate working in partnership with a range of external parties, including local authorities.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal leadership role in an ambitious Trust. As such, we are seeking an experienced professional with a proven track record of overseeing estates in large and complex organisations. The successful candidate will have a deep commitment to integration, with a clear understanding of how to navigate new ways of working, and a resolute focus on delivery to help shape the future of the Estates directorate for SaTH. The ideal candidate will be a true leader who can engage with key individuals at all levels of an organisation and possess the communication skills to influence and win trust through a values-driven approach.

Working for your organisation

SaTH is the main provider of acute hospital services for around half a million people in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and mid Wales.  We are an organisation striving to provide high quality, safe care for the communities we serve, whilst ensuring our staff feel valued and have the best possible work experience.  The journey of quality improvement is well underway and managed through our ‘Getting to Good’ programme, but we must continue to make the improvements in care as swiftly as possible, and to ensure they are embedded and enduring.  Our Director of Estates will be fundamental to this goal by creating a safe, effective and healthy estate and ensure the right results for the people that matter most – our patients and their families. Against this landscape, there is no better time to join SaTH.

We strongly encourage applications from all sections of the community, particularly from under-represented groups, including disabled people and members of our black, Asian and minority ethnic communities, to improve the diversity of experience within our senior leadership team.
