Job overview

The post holder has the responsibility for the business and performance management of the Centre ensuring that all performance targets for Cancer, Referral to Treatment (RTT), DM01 and Urgent and Emergency Care are met alongside all strategical objectives. The postholder is responsible for managing capacity and demand and ensuring high productivity within theatres and outpatients throughout all subspecialties in order to achieve targets whilst remaining within its allocated budget.

The postholder will be responsible for implementing and supporting a robust strategic approach to service improvement and process redesign. The postholder will contribute to the annual Operational Planning process and will be responsible for producing business plans and business cases to support development and future growth within the centre. The postholder will also be responsible for undertaking a thorough evaluation of business cases, post implementation. They will also play an active role in identifying and achieving Cost Improvement Programmes for the Centre, contributing to the financial balance of the Division.

Main duties of the job

·    Support the Divisional Director of Operations in defining the strategic direction for the Centre.

·    Provide professional leadership within the Centre to ensure the delivery of safe, high quality and effective patient services using data/information to inform decision making.

·    Develop long term strategies to ensure the sustainability of the Centre including finance and workforce allocations in line with organisational and National objectives.

·    Drive transformational change, reform, and innovation across all areas within the Centre ensuring high productivity across key areas.

·         Ensure infrastructure is in place to support the delivery of high-quality services within the Centre making sure that staff training needs are met and annual appraisals are in place to support staff.

·         To ensure a regular physical presence within all areas of the Centre in order to provide appropriate leadership

·         Support the Job planning process along with the Clinical Director.

 ·        To ensure that robust methods of communication are in place throughout the Centre and that staff are kept informed of current performance for Cancer, RTT, DM01, emergency care, finance position, cost improvement programmes and workforce development opportunities.

 To attend meetings on behalf of the Division ensuring that information is disseminated to other colleagues within the Divisional team.
