CONSULTANT PHYSICIAN IN RESPIRATORY AND GENERAL INTERNAL MEDICINE

The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen due to the expansion of our Consultant Team in Respiratory Medicine at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust for a Consultant Physician in Respiratory and General Medicine.

This post is subject to a collective job-planning exercise but attracts 11 Programmed Activities per week including a 1 in 14 on-call commitment.  We also welcome applications from physicians wanting to work less than full time and potential opportunities exist for job sharing subject to discussion.

The successful applicant will join our team to develop services and care for Respiratory and General Medical patients working across the in-patient and out-patient setting. We would be keen to develop any particular clinical interests but also there is a departmental interest in research and teaching (including teaching for the Keele medical school). Planned developments include endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) and therefore experience in this area is desirable, although not essential.

You must have full registration with a licence to Practice and be on the General Medicine Council Specialist Register in Respiratory Medicine or within 6 months of obtaining CCT at time of interview, CESR or European Community rights.

Our Hospitals

We are entering an exciting period here at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust. We have been guaranteed more than £300 million pounds to develop our hospitals into two state of the art facilities that will offer greatly improved environments, more sustainable staffing and better facilities. It will make SaTH a better place to work, in turn making it a better place to receive care.

Over the last two years we have been building the foundations of a better future through our work with Virginia Mason and our own transforming care institute (TCI). We have introduced a leadership academy with more opportunities for development so all our leaders support, coach and perform at the highest levels, celebrate the hard work of our staff and recognise the wonderful improvements that are being made each and every day. This is a vital stepping stone to ensure we are equipped for our better future and realising our vision of providing the safest and kindest care for our patients. Leadership is about supporting teams to be the best they can be. As we move forward together it is vital all our teams understand their important role in delivering this brighter future for everyone.

Shropshire

Shropshire is a beautiful County located between the West Midlands and North Wales. Whilst rural and home to the Shropshire Hills it is anything but sleepy. The county is bustling with idyllic towns including Shrewsbury, Oswestry, Bridgnorth and Ludlow, with plenty to do regardless of your interests. More information can again be found under further links.

We are ideally located between the north and the south making travelling around the UK extremely easy. As well as being only a short distance from major cities and busy transport links including Birmingham airport, our County also borders with beautiful north Wales which is abundant in outdoor activities, brilliant beaches, and thrilling scenery.
