Lead Pharmacist for Medicines Utilisation

We have a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Pharmacist  who is ready to take the next step in their career.

This job involves the leadership and management of the Pharmacy service relating to medicines utilisation including strategic oversight of the Pharmacy Homecare team, Formulary Management and effective evaluation of all medicines including new and novel treatment. 

You will need excellent communication skills, have the drive to further develop this service and have the confidence to work well as part of the wider health economy.  You will work closely with our CCGs across the interface as part of the developing STP/ICS.  You will also represent the Trust at local and regional commissioning meetings. 

Our pharmacy offers an innovative and accommodating setting for all of our staff whilst offering the highest standard of service to all of our patients.  Future plans include full implementation of the Hospital Pharmacy Transformation Plan and comprehensive and effective Medicines Optimisation.  This includes implementation of electronic prescribing, automation and further developing the Transforming Care Production System (TCPS).  The department has already made significant steps on the implementation of e-rostering, an electronic tracking system and the homecare service.  Further development and work to be undertaken by this role is fundamental to support the Medicines Optimisation strategy and to be in-line with national bench-marking.

The right candidate will have significant hospital pharmacy experience, hold a postgraduate diploma in Clinical Pharmacy and have registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).

There will be a requirement to participate in extended hours working including weekends, bank holidays and emergency duties on a rotational basis.

The position will be based at The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford but will require some cross site working at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.
