An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Staff Nurse to join the Discharge Lounge. You will be working alongside a Band 6 with all wards and departments in the hospital to facilitate safe patient discharges from hospital through the Discharge Lounge, enabling patient flow.
You will be an excellent communicator who will assist in maintaining patient safety through the transfer of patients to the Discharge Lounge and their subsequent discharge from hospital.
The successful candidate must be passionate about patient safety and experience, supporting other team members both within their area and others throughout the hospital.
Main duties of the job
To effectively manage own workload when caring for a group of patients, liaising with colleagues to ensure effective available resources.
Supervise and demonstrate basic aspects of care pertinent to patient need to junior staff HCA and student nurses.
To adhere to systems that facilitate the appropriate transfer and timely discharge of patients that support the delivery of the EDD process and Nurse led discharge.
To deliver patient care in accordance with the NMC Code of Conduct and Scope of Professional Practice; and Trust Policies and Procedures.
To participate as members of a multidisciplinary team in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of individualised patient care. Demonstrating the ability to competently formulate and deliver care without direct supervision.
To ensure the use of approved manual handling techniques in delivery patient care using procedures taught by the manual handling team, including the safe use of mechanical and non-mechanical manual handling aids.

The Discharge Lounge is based Ward 18 at Princess Royal Hospital and will support patients whilst waiting to be discharged, either home or to their next place of care.
The Discharge Lounge will be supported by a dedicated team of health care professions, who are there to ensure the patients' experience is maintained to a very high standard.
