An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitable candidate to take up a Band 6 position as a Resuscitation Officer with the Resuscitation Services Team.  You will join a small but dedicated team who are committed to delivering a comprehensive, efficient and effective service across the Trust.

The post requires a motivated individual who has an interest in resuscitation.  The successful candidate should be able to work independently and flexibly within a small team. 

In the role of Resuscitation Officer, teaching forms a large component of the role.  However it may also include attending medical emergencies and cardiac arrests, audit, administrative tasks and organisation of emergency equipment provision across all Trust sites.

The successful candidate will be a Registered Nurse, Operating Department Practitioner or registered Paramedic and have considerable post registration acute or critical care experience.  You will be an existing Resuscitation Council (UK) ALS or EPALS provider, and hold a teaching / assessing qualification or evidence of formal teaching.  The successful candidate will look to achieve RC(UK) instructor status within 18 months for both adults and paediatrics.

The post involves running practical training sessions and theoretical courses on both Trust sites, and considerable flexibility is expected to accommodate the teaching programme and setting up / packing away of equipment before and after teaching a course.  The position will require the postholder to undertake the physical effort of teaching CPR on a daily basis and moving bulky equipment between training sites.  A valid UK driving licence, plus the ability to meet the travel requirements of the post for business purposes is essential.

This is an exciting time to join the service as we have now moved into the dedicated Copthorne Clinical Training Centre on The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital site and therefore have the scope to develop and expand our current service provision; this will include practical simulation in the educational facility or clinical practice.  With the development of Future Fit, Resuscitation Services will be involved in the design and set up relating to resuscitation in the new Emergency Department.
