An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Paediatric Nurse to join the Research and Innovation  Team and contribute significantly to clinical research across the Trust. The post will be based at The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford where the paediatric services are currently based.

The focus of this role will be to support the recruitment of patients into paediatric and neonatal  studies, both academic and industry.  However, there is an expectation the postholder will use their transferable skills to recruit patients into other specialities / the role will involve identifying, screening, consenting, recruiting and following up patients into many other national clinical studies, as well as entering data onto spreadsheets and data collection forms. The successful postholder will have overall day-to-day responsibility for the delivery of clinical protocols into non-interventional as well as more complex interventional academic and industry studies.

You will work alongside an experienced research team across the department.

Ideally, the postholder should have recent experience of working in Clinical Research.  You must be flexible and hard working with the ability to manage your workload effectively to cope with tight deadlines and conflicting demands.  This role requires excellent communication skills in order to communicate effectively with people of all levels from a wide range of professional and academic backgrounds both within and outside The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust.

You will be required to engage the clinical staff to facilitate recruitment into both simple and more complex clinical studies, often in quite stressful situations and at short notice.

You will be line managed by the band 7 Team Lead Research Sister but work closely with Consultants, Registrars and the wider MDT.  You will also work closely with the Research and Innovation Team to promote the importance of clinical research across the Trust.

You will be expected to attend local Clinical Research Network meetings as well as Investigator meetings. You will also be provided with training to fulfil the role.

The well-being of our staff is of the upmost importance to us.  If you are offered a role at our Trust, and fall into the increased and higher risk categories as set out by Public Health England (PHE) and NHSI/E, your line manager will complete an risk assessment with you.  This will be completed in conjunction with the latest guidance from Public Health England in relation to Covid-19.

By submitting your application to Trac, you are giving your consent for parts of your application data to be transferred to the NHS Electronic Staff Record (ESR) and other secure, internal NHS Workforce systems.
