This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and experienced Cancer Nurse to join our Cancer Team in this key senior leadership role.

As the Lead Cancer Nurse you will help deliver improved cancer outcomes and patient experience for our local population across Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin. 

The successful applicant will have NMC registration along with a post registration qualification and experience of working at a senior level with Cancer services.

Main duties of the job

The Lead Cancer Nurse will work as part of the Cancer Management Team alongside the Lead Cancer Clinician and Head of Cancer Services delivering improved outcomes and patient experience for patients and families affected by cancer.

You will play a key critical role in collaboration with all clinical teams in ensuring the provision of high level operational and strategic planning and leadership in relation to cancer care.

You will be responsible and accountable for the delivery of high-quality patient centred care and provide strategic direction for cancer nurses and allied health professionals working with cancer patients to ensure the national and local agenda is implemented with regards to cancer care.

You will also provide clinical leadership and line management to the Lung Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist team, Personalised Care team and Macmillan Support Centre Team.

The postholder will work with our ICB to promote and develop services to support patients and families affected by cancer, through treatment and to live well. You will also work with Lead Cancer Nurses across the West Midlands to develop regional wide improvements in cancer patient’s care and experience.
