We are seeking a dynamic nurse with excellent communication and organisational skills to join the viral hepatology service at The Shrewsbury and Telford NHS Hospital Trust.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the provision of specialist nursing for hepatology patients, practicing within the multi-disciplinary team and within a variety of settings within and outside of the hospital setting including cross-site working.
The successful applicant will provide care for a variety of hepatology conditions including viral hepatitis, cirrhosis, transplant patients, haemochromatosis – participating in assessment for treatment, monitoring and management of these conditions.
You will be expected to provide advice, education, harm minimisation and support to patients, their carers and other healthcare professionals.
You will need clinical experience in liver disease and must be confident of own knowledge base but seek guidance when appropriate.
You will be expected to organise your own workload, use own initiative and be able to practice evidenced-based care and there will be opportunities to attend relevant study days and develop knowledge and clinical skills.
You will be supported by the lead clinical nurse specialist and will work in line with a competency framework with clear actions/outcomes and evidence of achievement. You will also be trained in the use of transient electrography to be a competent fibroscan operator.
This role is offered as a band 6 however there will be training to work towards a band 7 on completion of competencies and agreement with the consultants.
