This role has been created as part of our revised structure for the Unscheduled Care Group which will support the nursing agenda across our two centres (Emergency and Medicine). The purpose of this post is to provide strong, professional, operational and clinical leadership throughout our services across both hospital sites and to link with key stakeholders and other health agencies to ensure services are fit for future generations.

The Head of Nursing for the Medicine Centre will be a highly visible and credible presence across the Care Group, contributing to strategy, working to ensure the highest standards of care, setting and maintaining standards of clinical excellence and continuously striving to improve the experience for patients, families and carers.

We are looking for a senior nurse for this post with extensive clinical and management experience who has both the ability and enthusiasm to lead a large team. The post holder will need to be passionate about improvement, driven with a track record of managing a team, delivering change, motivating teams, raising and maintaining high quality standards and be able to demonstrate how they have used their clinical and management expertise to analyse patient pathways, identify opportunities to optimise these and develop new pathways and models of care to improve patient experience.

Educated to Master’s level or with equivalent experience, the applicant must have substantial clinical experience in a tertiary setting and demonstrable experience of leading change within a clinical environment.

As part of the Care Group senior nursing team, there will be many opportunities for development - we are committed to the on-going education of all grades of staff through in house education programmes, annual personal development plans and academic development opportunities.
