Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Ward Clerk to join the friendly team newly merged team on Ward 7 at The Princess Hospital, Telford.  Ward 7 will be a mixed speciality ward for Cardiology and Endocrine.

The Ward Clerk's role is pivotal to the working of the ward, duties include; maintaining the patient notes, answering the phone and booking transport.

The Ward Clerk is often the first person that a visitor or relative will encounter, it is vital that they possess good communication skills as well as being computer literate. We are looking for a kind and empathetic person who is willing to go the extra mile for our patients.

Main duties of the job

  • Ensuring that the patient notes are kept in a tidy order
  • Requesting notes
  • Filing
  • Answering telephone queries
  • Assisting with stock ordering
  • Assisting the staff with any other duties that are within the job description

The Government has formally announced that it intends to introduce regulations that will require any individuals employed by the NHS where their role involves patient contact, to be fully vaccinated (1st and 2nd dose) against COVID-19 by 1st April 2022.  To achieve this the successful applicant must have had their 1st COVID-19 vaccination by 3rd February 2022. Therefore, full COVID-19 vaccination will be a condition of employment unless an individual is medically exempt. We will ask for proof of vaccination during the recruitment process.
