An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit a full-time / part-time Ward Clerk to join Ward 28 at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, Shrewsbury.  The hours of work will be 11.5 hour shifts (7am-7.30pm) covering 7 days (Monday - Sunday).

The successful candidate will be a self motivated, enthusiastic person with excellent interpersonal, organisational and computer skills, who has the ability to work under non direct supervision.

The role involves dealing with members of the public on a face to face basis as well as on the telephone, therefore excellent communication skills and a professional telephone manner is essential to respond courteously to all enquiries regarding patient care.  You will take a key role in ensuring patient notes are available and maintained in an organised manner.

It is necessary to have a flexible approach, remain calm under pressure in this challenging role and be able to respond appropriately to the demands of an ever changing workload.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will be expected to provide clerical, administrative and information technology support to medical, nursing and other staff in relation to the patients being cared for within the Unit.  Although primarily based within a particular area/ward, the postholder may be required to work anywhere in the division to cover short term absence

Possess or be willing to undertake NVQ Level 2 & 3 in Business Administration
