Job overview

We are looking to appoint a Support Medical Secretary within the Gastroenterology team.

The successful candidate will be a pivotal part of the secretarial team. Providing an efficient and comprehensive secretarial support service, using effective prioritisation skills to ensure deadlines are met. 

It is essential that the post holder exercises initiative and independent judgement whilst maintaining a high level of confidentiality and diplomacy at all times.  You will be fully conversant with all Microsoft applications, word processing, Microsoft publisher, producing presentations using PowerPoint, maintaining databases on Excel and Access.

This post is currently available for 22.5 hours a week. However, there may be an opportunity to increase this in the future if the successful candidate and service need were agreeable. 

Main duties of the job

The post holder provides an efficient and comprehensive secretarial support service to the Higher Level Secretary and to their Consultants.  Working closely with the Secretary to learn and develop your secretarial skills and experience.

The post holder is expected to work accurately under pressure with the ability to manage and prioritise their own workload; providing and receiving information which may require tact, diplomacy and persuasive skills as there may be barriers to understanding either due to a cultural difference or knowledge of the process.
