We have an exciting opportunity for an Outpatient Coder to join our friendly team.

The successful applicant will be responsible for inputting clinically coding multi-specialty outpatient activity in relation to outpatient surgery and clinic visits, using the Office of Population Censuses and Surveys (OPCS4) classification codes for procedures. Data is important in supporting all the current NHS Strategies including National Tariff Payment System, Information Governance, The Modernisation Agenda, National Service Frameworks, Clinical Audit and Governance and Clinical Performance Indicators

Along with your GCSE's including English and Maths (or equivalent), we require the post holder to possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, to be well organised and have a professional, positive attitude. 

Main duties of the job

Working on a daily basis to input coded outpatient activity onto the Trust PAS from clinical source documentation. Maintain effective processes enabling information to be made available to the department and others within defined timescales and thereby ensuring National Tariff Payment System deadlines are met.

The Clinical Coding Department is part of the wider Finance function, the Coding Department is split across two hospital sites - The Princess Royal Hospital in Telford and The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. 

The Coding Team must work towards strict monthly deadlines, which at times can be challenging.
