Job overview


The Acute Medical Unit (AMU) is a 17 bedded unit, this comprises of 2 bays and 5 side rooms. We also have Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) attached to AMU which comprises of a seating area (12 chairs) and 3 trollies. The purpose of SDEC is to assess, treat and discharge patients the same day.

You will help ensure that AMU is clean, clutter free and safe for patients and staff.


Main duties of the job


The post-holder will assist Nursing staff in the delivery of non-clinical patient care. They will ensure tidiness, cleanliness, effective stock control and equipment management. They will also support the Multi-Disciplinary Team in maintaining a safe ward environment, working closely with the Ward Manager, Estates Department, Infection and Prevention Team and our Domestic Team.

The post holder will need to have basic computer skills to fulfil this role. For example, to facilitate the ordering of stock and reporting maintenance jobs.

Essential criteria
  • GCSE's in English/Maths at Grades 9 - 4 or equivalent


Essential criteria
  • Previous experience in service industry
  • Experience in cleaning duties
  • Experience in the use of chemicals and equipment
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in NHS work
  • Experience of working in a healthcare setting
