We have an exciting opportunity for an exceptional candidate for the position of Undergraduate Medical School Deputy Manager. The post is suitable for someone with previous educational experience.  We are looking for an enthusiastic and ambitious individual to provide an efficient and effective service to our growing number of students from Keele School of Medicine and provide support for tutors within the Trust.

 

Main duties of the job

You will have excellent administrative and organisational skills along with being a good people manager with strong communication skills.  You will be able to demonstrate working in difficult circumstances and deputise for the Undergraduate Manager when required. You will also assist the Undergraduate Manager with student welfare support for the medical students based in Shropshire for Year 4 and 5. You will work closely with the Year 4 and 5 Leads, the Hospital Dean and Deputy Dean.

Working for our organisation

We are responsible for supporting the placement of around 140+ Keele University medical students in our hospitals and across Shropshire as they complete their final 2 years of training prior to graduation.  You would not only work alongside a number of Trust departments but also in close liaison with Keele School of Medicine.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

Educated to A Level standard or equivalent including GCSE English and Maths grade C or above

Desirable criteria

Postgraduate Qualification in Management/Training/ Office management or ability to demonstrate equivalent experience

Professional & Technical Qualifications

Essential criteria

ECDL Certificate or equivalent qualification/experience with advanced IT skills in word processing and Excel

Desirable criteria

Level 3/4 in NVQ Management or equivalent experience in managing staff & budgets

Work Experience

Essential criteria

Experience of working within a Postgraduate/Undergraduate/Educational setting
Working knowledge of office procedures; working under pressure in a busy environment and multi-tasking effectively with frequent interruptions
Organisational/planning management.
Minute taking and use of digital dictation systems
Previous experience of supervising/managing staff
Dealing with sensitive and confidential information

Desirable criteria

Experience of working within the NHS
Demonstrate a knowledge of room booking systems/ virtual learning environments and other multimedia

Knowledge

Essential criteria

Demonstrate an understanding of Undergraduate Medical Education
Be aware of and be able to follow HR practices and guidelines
Advanced IT skills using the MS Office suit of programmes (ie, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint); create, maintain and manipulate spread sheets and databases; ability to learn new software packages.
