Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to provide clerical support within the Heart Assessment Team based at The Princess Royal Hospital (PRH) with the occasional need to work across site at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital (RSH) to promote the delivery of an effective and efficient service. It will be based on a permanent contract for 30 hours per week worked over 4 days. 

You will need to be computer literate and have had experience of working in an office environment and have the ability to use digital dictation and undertake audio typing.  Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team are essential.  Being competent in the use of the Hospital Patient Administration System is essential.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide efficient and comprehensive support within the Heart Assessment Team  across site, prioritising workload to ensure deadlines are met. 
  • Providing necessary typing support to facilitate timely receipt of correspondence to GPs/Hospital Consultants. To use digital dictation/audio typing.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills.
  • To be responsible for maintaining efficient filing systems within the department filing all necessary documents in a timely and organised way. 
  • To be responsible for the collation of basic cardiology audit data for entry into local and national audit databases.

The Heart Assessment Team provide a cross site service to patients at both The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford.

Multi-professional working across the primary/secondary care interface underpins the service. The ultimate aim of our Service is to make improvements in quality of life, reduce hospital admissions and reduce length of stay.
