The Overseas Nurse Recruitment Team, based within Corporate Nursing, has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Band 3 administrative assistant to work alongside the Clinical Practice Educator and Professional Development Nurses supporting the overseas recruitment programme. Whilst this has been advertised as a full time post, part time hours or job share will be considered.

The post will be based predominantly at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital site, but some cross-site working may be required. The post holder will be expected to accompany nurses to one of 5 UK OSCE  test centres for their OSCE exams, one of which is based in Northern Ireland.  The post holder may also be required to meet and greet international nurses as they arrive in the UK to start their careers with The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital Trust.  

The successful applicant will have excellent communication skills, ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, and possess a high level of competence with regard to IT systems and clerical procedures. The post-holder will play an integral part in supporting the clinical education team in integrating overseas nurses to the Trust, and facilitating NMC registration via the OSCE process.

This is a fantastic opportunity to be involved in a new initiative, supporting ongoing transformation and improvement work within the Trust. 

Main duties of the job

Provide an efficient and comprehensive secretarial support service for the Professional Development Team, International Recruitment prioritising work to ensure deadlines are met.
Ensure effective communication with associated departments.
Assist in the organisation of the Practice Development Team’s workload.
Work with administration colleagues within Corporate Nursing as well as other Trust employees to assist delivery of the Trust’s overall strategic objectives.
Acts as first point of contact for the Lead Nurse and Professional Development Team when dealing with staff of all levels within the Trust.
Uses Microsoft Office application to populate teaching timetables, formulate induction timetables, organise meetings, arrange speakers and book venues for OSCE preparation programmes as well as producing resources to support the Professional Development Team for International recruitment.
Respond to telephone calls regarding induction and OSCE preparation of International nurses, resolving problems when possible, in a professional and competent manner
