CLERICAL ASSISTANT
An exciting opportunity as arisen for a Clerical assistant to joint our busy Cardiorespiratory department.
You will be part of a very busy department which serves all parts of the hospital. We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated person to join our clerical team, at The Princess Royal site, but on occasions to also work at our department at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital site.
The successful applicant will need to have had experience in dealing with the general public, they will have good IT skills and remain calm and professional under pressure in the sometime challenging role. A good telephone manner, confidence and a positive helpful manner is essential. Duties including answering the telephone, booking appointments and arriving and discharging our patient on both SEMA and CRIS systems.
The Cardiorespiratory Department is an extremely busy, fast paced environment requiring our clerical assistants to meet demanding targets and must be a pivotal, dynamic member of the team.
Main duties of the job
Receive and welcome patients into the department
Arrive and discharge patients using SEMA or CRIS Patient Management systems.
Make and Change appointments for all areas of the Cardiorespiratory department
Request patient notes, when needed for tests.
Answer the telephone, responding to questions or requests as appropriate.
Book Transport for patients returning home.
Distribute mail
Maintain a satisfactory stock level of stationery.
To undertake any other clerical duties designated by the Head of Department.
Systems and equipment
Competently use Microsoft word, email, excel programmes to fulfil role
Competently use SEMA and CRIS
Report faults / need for maintenance repair to equipment / environment as appropriate.
Following appropriate training undertake safe use and care of office equipment.
Ensure all relevant Trust Policy and procedures are understood and adhered to including Trust and Directorate Health and Safety Policies,
manual handling,
safe use of VDU`s,
electrical equipment
Safe keeping of patients belongings.
Information Governance
Is responsible for ensuring office / reception area is correctly secured at the end of the working day
Working for our organisation
The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is the main provider of district general hospital services for nearly half a million people in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and mid Wales. Together the hospitals have just over 700 beds and assessment & treatment trolleys.
The Cardio-respiratory department is responsible for providing a diagnostic service for both the Trust and wider Primary Care network. We provide a range of Cardiology and Respiratory tests and support treatments, such as CPAP for sleep apnoea and cardiac device implants. We are staffed by Physiologists and Healthcare Scientists and we're an accredited training provider of the National School of Healthcare Science. We have a base at the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford and a smaller one at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, though both hospitals provide a wide range of acute hospital services including accident & emergency, outpatients, diagnostics, inpatient medical care and critical care.
