THE SHREWSBURY AND TELFORD HOSPITAL NHS TRUST

LOCUM CONSULTANT IN EMERGENCY MEDICINE

We are looking to appoint enthusiastic and forward thinking individuals to join the team of Doctors and Nurses currently redefining and modernising the delivery of Emergency Medicine in Shropshire and Mid Wales.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Locum Emergency Medicine Consultant who is keen to get involved in delivering care on the front line in a designated Trauma unit, as well as helping to deliver change as part of a continuing expansion plan for the service.

The Trust provides services for a diverse Rural and Urban population of over 500,000 in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and mid Wales. The Emergency Department at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital (RSH) and the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford (PRH) last year saw nearly 110,000 patients across both sites.

Work is currently being carried out to reconfigure a number of key services across both Hospital sites. Strengthening the Emergency Department lies at the heart of planning service delivery for the future. We need enthusiastic and dynamic Clinicians to support us in bringing these plans to fruition.

The Trust is affiliated with Keele University and delivers high quality teaching to medical students within the Emergency Department and in our on-site simulation suite. Both Emergency Departments are involved in training Foundation Doctors, GPVTS, Emergency Medicine Trainees, ENPs and ACPs.

On top of this, Shropshire provides a superb and desirable environment for families with excellent state and private schools, affordable housing and a large variety of leisure activities.

The duration of the post is for 6 months to commence ASAP. FRCEM or equivalent is desirable but not essential for suitable candidates.

The post will attract 11PAs amongst which 2.5 PAs are dedicated SPAs and further sessions are negotiable.

Salary is negotiable for suitable candidates.
