We are looking to recruit a highly motivated individual to join our nursing team to help provide a safe , high quality Endoscopy service to patients at The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford.

The Endoscopy Unit provides a service to both outpatients and inpatients undergoing Gastroscopy, EUS , flexible sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy, bronchoscopy, EBUS and PEG insertion .

This is a full time post hours worked over a 7 day period including bank holidays 

Main duties of the job

The job involves working alongside the Endoscopy nurses , ensuring the safe admission, recovery and discharge of patients. Duties will include assisting the medical and non medical Endoscopists within the procedure room, ensuring the safe monitoring of patients during the procedure, providing a safe, positive and dignified patient experience.

We will provide in-house training and fully support your professional development . The successful candidate will be conscientious with excellent attention to detail. Along with your GCSE's in Maths and English (Grade C or above or equivalent) and appropriate NVQ level 3 (or willingness to complete), you must have experience of working within a hospital environment. The ability to work to tight deadlines is essential as the Endoscopy Unit is extremely busy with all three procedure rooms running to full capacity.

The Endoscopy unit at The Princess  Royal Hospital consists of 3 purpose built procedure rooms. The unit delivers the Bowel Cancer screening service alongside the diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy service to outpatients and inpatients. We are a training unit, training both medical staff and nurse endoscopists. We are committed to supporting your ongoing professional development.

The team work closely with Gastroenterologists, Colorectal surgeons, Nurse Endoscopists, clinical nurse specialists and other members of the multidisciplinary team. The unit works together with the Research and Innovation Team as it is involved in many clinical trials.
