An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Speech and Language therapist to join our Head and Neck and Oncology Service, within Shrewsbury and Telford Hospitals NHS Trust (SaTH)
The post holder will be part of the Macmillan Integrated Therapy Service (MITS) team, based at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital working closely alongside Dietitians, SLT’s, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists; supported by cross profession Assistant Practitioners.
We are looking for a skilled therapist who has experience and competencies in complex dysphagia, including tracheostomy, videofluoroscopy assessment and cancer care. Experience in managing communication difficulties in head and neck cancer and oncology is welcomed. This includes surgical voice restoration and AAC. Knowledge and competencies in Surgical Voice restoration is beneficial, however training can be provided.
Multidisciplinary team working is proactive in these areas and you will need to be a key player in differing teams and MDT clinics.
Cross site working between the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, and the Princess Royal Hospital will be required.
Due to the needs of the service, 18.75 hours would need to be timetabled across 3 working days; including a Monday and Thursday as essential, to ensure cover to Head and Neck clinics and videofluoroscopy are provided, as well as cross over with the other SLT in the team.
