Michelle Elliot - Clinical Preparation Team

“I love working for The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust because it’s a fast and friendly environment.”

Michelle is a passionate member of the Clinical Preparation Team within the Medical Records Department.  Medical Records Staff (sometimes known as Health Records Staff) are responsible for Updating, organising and storing records. Record can be a mixture of both paper filing and electronic.

“Days fly by here. You’re dealing with 100’s of notes a day, we have to make sure we are accurate but fast and quality is paramount. But everyone gets on great here, we all work together to get the job done properly. Mondays are our busiest time in fractures, let’s just say we don’t like trampolines or snow!”

There aren’t any specific entry requirements for Medical Records Staff but the NHS does expect good literacy, numeracy and IT skills and having relevant experience in an administration role would help.

We also recruit all staff based on a ‘values, behaviours and attitudes’ interview. This allows us to assess applicants on how suitable they are for the trust and whether their attitudes and behaviours alight to ours.

Our values have been developed by our staff and they are very important to us. We only want great people.

Our Values are:

  • Proud To Care
  • Make It Happen
  • We Value Respect
  • Together We Achieve

Our values have been translated into the behaviours we should all expect from each other, and commit to working by.
