Due to expansion of our service we are offering an exciting training opportunity for nurses or allied health professionals to join our expanding Endoscopy Team.
This is a trainee band 7 post where there is an opportunity for a specialist Non-Medical Endoscopist (NME) to undertake Master’s level training and competency based assessment to enable them to function as a band 8a Non-Medical Endoscopist. This would be suitable for current Endoscopy band 5 Staff Nurses with relevant experience.
The expectation being that the successful candidate will complete the bowel scope examination and specialist GI modules plus in house training before being signed off as competent and moving from the band 7 role to a band 8a role. Whilst training, the individual will function as a band 7 non-medical practitioner.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic practitioner to join our fantastic Nurse Endoscopist team as a NME. Upon training you will work autonomously to perform upper and lower procedures to include colonoscopy, gastroscopy, capsule endoscopy and PEG related procedures. Ultimately you will also run practitioner led clinics.
The post holder will be a role model for professional practice, exercising accountability and providing support and leadership within the endoscopy team. You will work closely with the consultant and nursing teams to provide high standards of patient care and achieve national targets to meet service need and ensure JAG accreditation is maintained.
The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital is a teaching hospital with 2 endoscopy units across site delivering therapeutic and diagnostic lists. Once competent, the post holder will act as a JAG approved trainer to develop future NME’s. You will be required to work at both Telford and Shrewsbury. Evenings and weekend work will also be required. SaTH is currently working with the Virginia Mason Institute to ensure quality and safety standards are of paramount importance in the delivery of good quality patient care.
