We are currently looking to recruit dynamic, enthusiastic, motivated, forward thinking Theatre Nurses and Operating Department Practitioners to join our theatre and recovery teams.

The Princess Royal Hospital has ten operating theatres, two of which are obstetrics. We cover a range of specialities including Trauma & Orthopaedics, ENT & MaxFax, Gynae & Obstetrics, Paediatrics and Breast surgery. We have undergone a major reconfiguration of services recently, with the development of Women & Children's Unit at Telford which requires an expansion in our workforce.

The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital comprises of 9 Operating Theatres covering a range of Major and Day case surgery including Colo-Rectal, Urology, Upper GI and Bariatric, Vascular, ENT and Max Fax, Orthopaedic Trauma and an Emergency CEPOD Theatre 24/7.

You must be a Registered Nurse or ODP, and have recent experience working within Theatres; although student ODP's approaching the end of their training will also be considered.

You will be required to cover a range of shifts which may include Weekends, Early/Late Shifts, Long Days, Bank Holidays, On-Calls and Night Duties (Obstetric, Anaesthetic Practitioners only) You will also have an opportunity to be based at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital or The Princess Royal Hospital and this will enable you to rotate between sites to gain further experience.

You should demonstrate in your application a desire to develop your career within a Theatre setting and a strong commitment to teaching.

As part of our vision to provide best in care we are looking for talented and passionate Practitioners who share our beliefs and who want to grow with our organisation. This is reflected in our selection processes which now include an Assessment (Drug calculations/Literacy and Numeracy) and a Values-Based Interview (VBI).

Together with our staff we have developed a set of Values which form a framework for a positive and supportive environment for our patients, visitors and staff. We believe that all candidates should be able to demonstrate and be equally committed in fulfilling these Values to be successful in their application. It’s very important that we select the right nurses to come and work for us. The selection process for all nursing posts will include a Literacy, Drug Calculations and Numeracy Test. You will be invited to sit these assessments if you are successful in the shortlisting process.
