Due to development within our ward team we have vacancies for a Band 5 staff nurse to work on Ward 23 Oncology & Haematology.
The ward provides inpatient care for patients on chemotherapy, radiotherapy, immunotherapy and other anti-cancer treatments and manages the side effects of these treatments. The patients cared for on this ward are having treatment for both solid tumours and blood cancers. This is an exciting opportunity for the right staff member who wants to develop their skills and experience in working within the ever changing field of cancer care.
To be successful you will be a keen, hardworking and enthusiastic nurse who is committed to providing a high standard of clinical care. You will need to have excellent communication skills with patients, relatives and members of the ward team. You will also need to demonstrate a passion for working within cancer care and have the ability to balance a workload which often includes acute oncological and haematological emergencies alongside the demands of providing symptom control, palliative and end of life care.
You will be working alongside an existing team who will support you in developing the necessary oncology and haematology skills and we will be happy to provide training in chemotherapy administration. You will need to be comfortable in dealing with patients who have complex cancer needs and be able to deal with difficult and distressing situations on occasion.
We can accommodate either full time or part time working but there will be a requirement to work internal rotation onto nights and weekends. Please note that the ward also work 12.5 hour shifts.
