An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Nurse to join the Research and Innovation/Clinical Trials Team and contribute significantly to clinical research in the already very research-active Generic Clinical Research Team based at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. The focus of this role will be to support the recruitment of patients into generic studies, both academic and industry in several specialities, including gastro-intestinal and renal. The role will involve identifying , screening, consenting, recruiting and following up patients into many other national clinical studies, as well as entering data onto spreadsheets and data collection forms. At band 6, you will have overall day-to-day responsibility for the delivery of clinical protocols into non-interventional as well as more complex interventional academic and industry studies.
You will work alongside experienced band 6 Research Nurses as well as a Band 3 Assistant Research Practitioner .
Ideally, the post holder should have recent experience of working in Clinical Research. You must be flexible and hard working with the ability to manage your workload effectively to cope with tight deadlines and conflicting demands. This role requires excellent communication skills in order to communicate effectively with people of all levels from a wide range of professional and academic backgrounds both within and outside Shrewsbury And Telford Hospital NHS Trust. You will be required to engage the clinical staff to faciliiate recruitment into both simple and more complex clinical studies, often in quite stressful situations and at short notice.
You will be line managed by the band 7 Team Lead Research Sister but work closely with Consultants, Registrars and the wider MDT.You will also work closely with the Research and Innovation Team to promote the importance of clinical research across the Trust. You will also be required to work within the Generic Research Team and Princess Royal Hospital, Telford; this will depend on the current portfolio of trials but the base will be Shrewsbury.
You will be expected to attend local WMCRN meetings as well Investigator meetings. You will also be provided with training to fulfil the role.
