** Banding subject to Agenda for Change evaluation **
The Pathology department at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is looking to appoint a suitably qualified, experienced and HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist. The successful candidate would join the team delivering a high quality diagnostic service to our patients. This is an exciting opportunity for an IT orientated BMS to make a significant contribution and shape the future of local and networked pathology services.
The successful candidate will be leading us through major projects such as: a new/networked LIMS, a digital pathology IT system installation, and a new EPR system in the next 2-5 years.
The pathology service operates 24 hours per day, 7 days a week service and the post holder would work 37.5 hours Monday – Friday under Agenda for Change terms and conditions.
Applications are invited from HCPC registered Biomedical Scientists, with significant post registration experience in pathology. Experience of working out of hours would be advantageous.
The individual will be expected to provide a high standard of IT support to pathology staff and service users. Previous experience will be necessary to enable the post holder to diagnose complex IT and user issues and implement solutions. They will participate with most pathology projects providing IT technical input to the project management team. There will be a requirement to build up a good rapport with the Trust IT team and UKAS assessors and also to use negotiating and liaising skills when working with external suppliers.
The successful candidate will be based at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. Staff may be required to work on any of our other sites, as the need arises. The pathology department has UKAS Accreditation throughout the disciplines. The Department is fully computerised with DXC Telepath.
There will be a requirement to participate in continuous professional development.
