Applications are invited for a Trust Doctor (ST1 Level) to work in Oncology and Haematology at The Shrewsbury & Telford Hospital NHS Trust commencing on 5th December 2018 for a 6 months period initially, extendable to 12 months on mutual agreement.
The Oncology Centre is formed as part of a Trust-wide Management Restructure creating new Clinical Centres of Excellence. The Oncology Centre comprises of Clinical and Medical Oncology, Clinical Haematology and Palliative Care. A new £4.8m state of the art Cancer Centre providing facilities at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital opened in September 2012. The Oncology Day Centre has 24 stations available and Haematology Day Centre has 10 stations. Both units have outpatient clinic rooms and treatment stations in close proximity. The Centre opened a new Oncology and Haematology Inpatient Ward early 2013 which brings together a 25 bedded unit to enabling the delivery of specialised care in a single setting.
Duties will consist of day-to-day care of inpatients, including routine clerking and investigations, minor procedures and the assessment of patients on cytotoxic therapy, ward cover and out-patient sessions.
The department offers many opportunities to participate in audit and research and has an active Clinical Trials Unit.
Hours of Duty are Mon- Fri, 9am- 5pm, with no on-call commitment.
