Audiology currently has 1 full time maternity cover vacancy at Band 5 level and we are looking for an enthusiastic well motivated individual to join our team at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital by June 2019.

Shropshire Audiology Service covers a population of 500,000 people delivering diagnostic and treatment services to both Adults and Paediatrics.  We are proud to offer an Adult Bone Anchored Hearing Service within our Complex clinic.  We invest time in monitoring quality and developing our service.

Shropshire NHS Audiology was one of the first five Audiology services nationally to achieve IQIPS accreditation, so quality is high on our agenda, we will expect the post holder to also be passionate about clinical quality.

Shropshire Audiology believes strongly in multi-disciplinary, working for the benefit of the patient and therefore part of the role involves interaction with ENT, Social Services, local volunteer groups and education.  Our service has a strong record of staff development and we believe that it is important to invest in our staff.  Over the years we have had band 5 staff involved in research projects, audits, trust training projects, co-ordinating volunteer services, developing and running County wide awareness projects and even international projects.  In return we can offer great opportunities to not only consolidate your clinical practice, but also to look at developing your career.  Three of our current Band 5's have completed an MSc and previous Band 5 staff members have gone on to be involved in commissioning services or head up adult hearing services elsewhere in the country.

As a department serving a rural population the postholder would be expected have a full driver's licence and be able to drive to 1 or 2 other local community sites - which presents the opportunity to be an autonomous practitioner and link to local services.

Residential accommodation is provided at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital by the local Housing Group Rooftops.  The accommodation is fully furnished and within easy reach of the town centre, local schools, supermarkets and leisure facilities.  Other existing Audiology staff live locally or commute to Shropshire from across the West Midlands.
