Faces of SaTH: Hannah Fellows - Assistant Fertility Secretary

To round up our celebrations of National Fertility Awareness week, which ran from 28 October to 1 November, this weeks Face of SaTH is Assistant Fertility Secretary Hannah Fellows..

“I joined the Fertility Unit in January 2018 having previously worked in other areas within the hospital. My role initially involved typing correspondence relating to clinics and booking patient appointments. Shortly after joining the unit this evolved into also supporting the Nursing and Scientific teams with their phone calls and administration.

“As an administrator I will typically come in and check the nurses’ phone for voicemails left overnight and pull any paperwork needed for these. I spend the morning on the nurses’ phone speaking to patients and other departments as well as making sure all the necessary information is available for the nurses to be able to answer queries quickly and efficiently. In the afternoon I move over to supporting the scientific team which usually involves typing treatment summaries and letters to patients who have embryos in storage. On my secretarial days I will be booking appointments and completing paperwork from clinics as well as typing correspondence and treatment schedule letters.

“I’m very fortunate in that I have a lot of variety within my role. I can be speaking with patients, typing clinics and working with data, which I really enjoy. I like being able to follow a patient or couple along their journey from the initial nurse history appointment through to an embryo transfer and the outcome of their treatment, and of course it’s wonderful when patients bring their babies in to visit us. I would say that the best part of my job is being part of such a kind and supportive team who all work so hard to give our patients the best experience at all stages of their fertility journey.

“Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family and enjoying the outdoors on walks with my dog.”
