"I work in a young enthusiastic department, we have a lovely team of specialists all working together to help. There is also great simulation training available at the new women and children’s centre at SaTH, meaning we can get a realistic hands on experience”
Dr Patricia Gibson is a NHS Doctor in Paediatrics and Neurology working in the Princess Royal Hospital, Telford. In 2014 SaTH opened a brand new purpose built Women and Children’s Centre with 14 NHS Consultants (2 per speciality) across all 7 key departments.
The new centre is fully equipped with a simulation training centre of which Patricia is one of the simulation training doctors. SaTH’s simulation training uses a simulated task or environment to improve technical and non-technical skills. This is to focus on patient safety and enhanced team performance.
Patricia is especially pleased with this new addition to the training services SaTH provides, offering training in the care of acutely ill patients. Simulation training uses life-like manikins and the level of simulation can be adapted to the level of the learners needs. It can also be used as a measurement tool linked to target teamwork and learning objectives. This simulation training allows NHS Doctors to learn vital live saving skills, whilst protecting patients from unnecessary risks.
SaTH is a great place to train and work. We have a strong team and a sturdy set of Trust Values that have been developed by our staff and patients. If you would like to find out more about living and working in Shropshire click here, or to apply to any of our NHS Doctor vacancies click here.
